Hey Friend,
It’s nice to have you here again. Most people think juggling multiple tasks at once makes them look cool. Like they are some superheroes, ha-ha! I also feel this modern world makes it look natural to do a whole lot at the same time. You’ll see a young guy who is a student, but he’s also a tailor, hair stylist, content writer and a whole other commitment. At the end of the day, he won’t be able to achieve much. The problem isn’t activity, but too much activity. I’ll be telling you how you can achieve more by doing less.
What is the essence of productivity?
Productivity is getting things effectively done in a period of time. Getting things done is the core metric of productivity.
The idea behind ‘less is more’
First off, doing a lot at the same period of time leads to the following amongst others:
1. Burnout - Burnout is a state of physical, mental and emotional exhaustion. Obviously, doing a lot is going to stress you out. You can’t be burnt out and at the same time be productive.
2. Decreased performance: In the bid of wanting to accomplish a lot, you end up reducing your output because you won’t be able to perform at your peak.
Now, how does actually doing less make you accomplish more?
1. You avoid burnout: You will be able to conserve your physical, mental and emotional energy because you don’t have a lot going on. You’ll be on form, on par and even on point.
2. Increased focus: Your attention isn’t too divided. You have fewer projects at hand, so you’ll be able to track progress and focus on what actually matters. You’ll do things more efficiently.
3. You’ll have extra time at hand: According to flown.com, ‘focused work can reduce task completion time by up to 25%’. The fact that you have few things to do, you’ll be able to focus and then complete them faster thereby creating some more extra time to do other things.
4. Obsess over quality not quantity: I’m not referring to perfectionism here. I want you to obsess over how well you perform your tasks and not how much tasks you can do at the same time. Give each project, the required time for completion.
If we can just take on fewer tasks, focus on them, complete them before moving to the next set of tasks. I believe we’ll achieve so much more this year.
Can’t wait to catch you in the next one.
Yours in productivity,
David_medic.
Keep the good work
Thank you so much for this💜
