Hey Friend,
It’s nice to have you here again. Few hours to the new year and most of us are still stuck on how to actually make 2025 count! I believe you have some ideas, plans, visions, wishes, etc for the coming year. But I’m not sure you know how to bring those plans to life or how to make sure that you achieve all your ambitions for the year 2025. In the last post, I told you how overrated ‘new year resolutions’ are. Today, I’ll be telling you how to make 2025 your best year yet.
SYSTEMS OVER RESOLUTIONS
Resolutions are just goals most times without a system.
Firstly, what is a system?
Systems are the tiny steps we take towards a goal. Systems focus on the process towards achieving your goal. Systems are the repeatable habits, processes that makes progress inevitable.
On the other hand, what is a goal?
A goal is something you want to achieve after a period of time...
Let’s go through some examples together:
1. Instead of saying, ‘I want to author a book in 2025,’ set up a system where you write 100 words every day.
2. Instead of saying, ‘I want to get a 4.7CGPA this session,’ set up a system where you are actively reviewing your course materials for two hours per day.
WRITE DOWN YOUR GOALS.
While systems determine your progress, goals give direction. Writing down your goals can take any form. You can literally take a physical book and write down your goals or use your notes app on your phone or whatnot. Systems without goals will end up in futility. Writing down your goals will give your clarity and direction on what your systems are working towards. Note, your goals should be tied up to your systems.
STAY CONSISTENT
I know you are tired of hearing consistency from almost everyone. But the truth can’t be denied. Consistency wins anytime, any day and anywhere. The small things you do daily - your systems – compound over time into your goals being achieved.
It’s not what we do once in a while that shapes our lives. It’s what we do consistently.
Look at this:
1. Imagine spending 30 minutes learning Spanish daily. By the end of the year, you would have mastered the language to a pro level because you spent 10,950 minutes learning Spanish.
2. Imagine reading a chapter of a book daily. By the end of the year, you might just have read about 100 books.
MONITOR YOUR PROGRESS AND CELEBRATE SMALL WINS
Monitor your progress by reflection. This helps you know how far you’ve come and the little things you’ve achieved. This can serve as a source of motivation. Reflection also helps you stay focused and aligned to your goals. It also helps you point out where things aren’t going as planned and you can strategize again.
It’s a wrap guys. 2025 is our year. By combining clear goals and efficient systems with a little bit of reflection, the coming 365 days will be lit.
Can’t wait to catch you in the next one.
Yours in productivity,
David_medic.
