Today, I will be talking about goal setting. This is a very important topic, so make sure you read to the end. Most people don't end up achieving anything by the 31st of December every year because they didn't set any goal. Some did set goals but didn't set it smartly. I will be telling you a lot in this post, sit down tight friend.
What's a goal?
Simply put, a goal is something you want to achieve after a period of time after putting in efforts.
A goal can also be called an objective or a target 🎯
A goal is very vital when it comes to being productive.
A goal could be anything ranging from drinking water thrice a day to going to the gym one a week or even reading my newsletter every Sunday.
What's goal setting?
Goal setting is the process of setting goals and systems that help in achieving those goals.
What are systems?
Systems are the steps you take towards achieving your goal.
Take a look at this scenario...
The goal of Mr A is to read a chapter of a book before going to bed.
Now, the systems he needs to put in place ranges from getting the book he wants to read, having a bedtime, placing the book on his bed so he will always see it before sleeping, tracking his progress and so on.
I guess with this scenario, you should have a better picture of what a system is.

How to set goals.
I will give you some tips now, if you have any comments. Make sure you drop it below 👇
1. Set the goal: This sounds weird 😂🤲. But the first step in setting a goal is setting that goal. You have to sit down and decide what you want your goal to be. Set smart goals- goals that are realistic.
Focus on systems more than you focus on goals. Because it's only doing those systems will make you achieve the goal.
2. Set long term goals and short term goals: A long term goal will be the real goal while the short term goals will just be milestones in the process of achieving the long term goal.
For instance, I want to go to the gym for six months straight. This will be my long term goal. Now, my short term goal will be like going to the gym every week. So, going to the gym every week is a win-win for me because I'm eventually going to achieve the long term goal.
3. Write your goal on a piece of paper: This sounds absurd right 😂. Well... writing your goal down and putting it somewhere you will always see it will make you run with the goal.
4. Work out the system: After setting that goal, now think thoroughly and make a system that would help you achieve the goals. I already explained what a system is earlier.
5. Set realistic goals: Don't be hard on yourself, set goals that are within your ability.

6. Reward yourself along the process of achieving the goal: Remember, I told you to set short term goals. So, after achieving those short term goals. Reward yourself, you can treat yourself to a dinner or go to the spa or even watch a movie with a friend.
7. Stick to it: Consistency! Always show up everyday and keep working towards that goal, you can do it !
