Hey Friends,
It has been a while here. It has been more than a while, pardon me. I took over 12 months away from you guys on here. I’m deeply sorry for keeping everyone hanging, I know we have been expecting a post. But I am back like I never left.
So, as a welcome back gift... I’ll be telling us how we’ve been scammed with the idea of ‘you must have a new year resolution at the beginning of every year’.
Let’s dive right in
According to Merhab Robinson and Clark law corporation, approximately 30 percent of Americans make New Year’s resolutions, but fewer than 10 percent are successful at keeping them.
Twenty-three percent of people quit their resolution by the end of the first week; 43 percent quit by the end of January.
Let me blow your mind, by the end of the third month of the year (March)… About 90 percent of people would have given up on their few year resolutions. Most people know how ineffective this new year resolution of a thing is but they keep doing it every year. According to education.casio.co.uk, Fast forward to the end of the year, and only 8% people stick to their new year resolutions.

Why do people set new year resolutions?
Broadly, I’ll say to either start something or stop something. Some people might want to cut down on soda in the coming year, some might want to say ‘thank you’ more and the list goes on and on.
Why you don’t need a new year resolution?
1. It is often unrealistic: Most people go over the board when it comes to setting their new year resolution. I think they do it in a bid to impress themselves because why will a person have 30 new year resolutions.
2. It doesn’t address whatever you are trying to do: Majority of new year resolutions are just goals without a system on how to achieve such goal. For instance, you want to save more money in the coming year. That is a good new year resolution, but how do you intend on doing that? You just wrote down a goal and you will most likely continue writing that same resolution every year.
3. It won’t motivate you: I know you set new year resolutions because you feel they’ll keep you motivated or keep you going around the year. That is not true, why? Because your new year resolution is most likely something you are about to start or something you want to stop. And either way it goes, it is going to be difficult. Imagine, jogging for 10 minutes a day is part of your resolutions for the coming year… How do you expect that to motivate you after having a long day and you are tired? So, your motivation should not lie in your new year resolution.
4. It will give you an illusion that you are getting something done
: In the real sense, you aren’t getting shit done. You come back from work and glance through your new year resolutions and then go to the couch and watch a movie. In your head, you are getting the reps but you are not!
In my next post, I’ll be sharing with us how to make our 2025 actually count. So, make sure you are subscribed and you’ll be the first person to get the post in your email inbox.
That is a wrap guys. I am so happy to be here again.
Can’t wait to catch you in the next one.
